Our Mission is to educate our patients and the community, to live a healthier lifestyle. We utilize comprehensive medical questionnaires, case history, and lab testing. We want to be your health partner in wellness. From there we will put together a specific program of care designed for you.
It happened one night. I awoke, sweating, heart racing, and my wife said, “Your are white as a ghost.” During that week I went to the hospital emergency room on two separate occasions. Each time I thought I was having a heart attack, scary to say the least! The second time my blood pressure was dangerously high. I was going in and out of consciousness. I was having tunnel vision. Dizzy, confused, and afraid of my future. A heart shock machine was brought into my room. I thought this was it.
Fortunately, I did not have a heart attack. I went to consult with my family physician. We decided to do some blood work. My cholesterol was about 500, my good cholesterol was very low, and my triglycerides were 1,227. I gained a lot of weight – a lot! I was out of shape. To say the least I was not a picture of health.
I was prescribed some medications to lower my cholesterol and triglycerides. However, I had side effects. My diet was still the same and I knew I had to take control over my health.
I was given the name and number of a Chiropractor who is a Nutritionist. We ordered some very specific bloodwork such as food sensitivity testing and micronutrient testing. From there I was put on a very specific program of care. I started to eat better. I followed my supportive nutrition program religiously. I started to lose weight. My blood pressure was normal. When we did my lab tests again my lipids were NORMAL!
This had a profound effect on me. I wanted to help those in need with Functional Medicine and Nutrition. I decided to go for a Master of Science Degree in Human Nutrition at the University of Bridgeport. Since I completed the program, I have dedicated my life to helping those with Clinical Nutrition. It has become my passion!
Twenty years later, I want to help as many as I can with Clinical Nutrition and Functional Medicine. Also, I am an Adjunct Professor at the University of Bridgeport – Nutrition Institute – where I teach and advise the next generation of Clinical Nutritionists.
